Logo sizes,
For print and social.
Logo sizes for 5x5, 4x6, 5x7, Letter and Tabloid prints at 300 dpi, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and X, plus favicons, and how to place the logo.
Every logo ends up in places the designer never planned for: a 4x6 photo print, a LinkedIn banner, a yard sign, a YouTube channel. Each one has its own size, and each platform crops differently. This guide lists the sizes that come up most, explains how to place the logo in each, and shows how to make them all at once.
Print sizes at 300 dpi
For print, the size in inches matters, and so does the resolution. The standard for sharp print is 300 dots per inch. To find the pixel size, multiply each side in inches by 300.
| Size | Common use | Pixels at 300 dpi |
|---|---|---|
| 5 x 5 in | Square prints, stickers, coasters | 1500 x 1500 |
| 4 x 6 in | Postcards, photo prints, table cards | 1200 x 1800 |
| 5 x 7 in | Cards, invitations, framed prints | 1500 x 2100 |
| 8.5 x 11 in | US Letter flyers, letterhead, office signs | 2550 x 3300 |
| 11 x 17 in | Tabloid posters, menus, window signs | 3300 x 5100 |
| 3.5 x 2 in | US business card (add 0.125 in bleed per side) | 1050 x 600 |
When you can, send print files as PDF with the logo kept as vectors. A vector PDF prints sharp at any size, and the printer can still place it on any layout.
Social media sizes
Social platforms measure in pixels. These are the sizes most clients need for launch.
| Placement | Pixels | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram post | 1080 x 1080 | Square, center the logo with room around it |
| Instagram story | 1080 x 1920 | Keep the logo out of the top and bottom 250 px |
| Facebook cover | 1640 x 624 | Phones crop the sides, keep the logo near the middle |
| LinkedIn banner | 1584 x 396 | The profile photo covers the lower left |
| YouTube banner | 2560 x 1440 | Only the center 1546 x 423 shows on every device |
| X header | 1500 x 500 | The profile photo covers the lower left |
| Profile picture | at least 400 x 400 | Shown as a circle, use the symbol alone |
Platforms change their layouts from time to time, so check the current guidance before a big campaign. The ratios above have been stable for years.
Web and app icons
| Icon | Pixels |
|---|---|
| Favicon | 16 x 16, 32 x 32, 48 x 48 (in favicon.ico) |
| Apple touch icon | 180 x 180 |
| Android and web app | 192 x 192 and 512 x 512 |
The favicon generator builds all of them from one SVG, plus the HTML snippet for the site head.
Fill or center?
Once you know the size, you have to decide how the logo sits inside it. There are two good answers.
Fill
The logo is zoomed until its longest side touches the edge of the frame. Use Fill when the logo is the whole design, such as a sticker, an embroidered patch or a die cut sign, or when the printer will add their own margins.
Center with breathing room
The logo sits in the middle with even padding around it. This is the right choice for social posts, banners and most prints, because logos look cramped when they touch the edge. Around 15% padding is a good default. Go up to 25% or 30% on wide banners, where the logo should feel calm rather than squeezed. For a story or a round profile picture, add more so nothing gets cropped.
Backgrounds
Pick the background for where the file will live.
- Transparent for PNG files that go onto websites, slides and other designs.
- White for JPG files and most prints.
- Black or a brand color for social posts and banners, using the white reversed logo or a one color version on top.
JPG cannot be transparent, so a JPG always needs a solid color behind the logo.
Which file types for which size
- PNG for screens and social, with or without a background.
- JPG for email and apps that do not like transparency.
- PDF for anything printed. Keep the logo as vectors.
Make every size in one click
Doing this by hand means a new artboard for every size, and again for every color version. The free logo resizer does it in your browser: load your SVG, tick the print and social sizes, add any custom size in inches, pixels, millimeters or centimeters, choose Fill or Center with a padding slider from 0 to 40%, pick the background, and download PNG, JPG and PDF for every size in one ZIP. Print sizes come out at 300 dpi.
Then give the client one place to find them all. With LogoGoGo, the sizes, every color version and every file type live on one branded link. See what logo files to give a client for the full list.
